Get Drop Alerts — FreeThe extended outdoor queue below the Discovery Center. Coaster trains scream past overhead at 70 mph, giving you close-up views of the launches and inversions. Two bronze raptor statues frame the entrance.
You enter the paddock facility. Neon lights pulse red, blue, and purple across the walls. An elevated centerpiece displays four steel velociraptor sculptures surrounding a model of the coaster's 155-foot top hat.
Six floor-to-ceiling windows look out at the second launch zone. Special effects make it appear that raptors are chasing each coaster train as it rockets past. The glass fogs to simulate their hot breath.
The cartoon double-helix character from the original Jurassic Park returns on a TV screen, explaining the ride experience and giving a cheeky safety briefing about the lockers.
A video presentation from Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong) explains the raptor training program. Display cases show raptor eggs, enrichment toys, and training props. A clipboard with a radar gun tracks raptor sprint speeds.
The highlight of the queue. Two life-size animatronic velociraptors — Delta and Echo — are caged in grooming stations. They breathe, blink, scan the room, and rattle their harnesses. You'll feel and smell their breath. Scent emitters release wet dirt and vegetation.
A side room featuring Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous content. Fictional Jurassic World ads line the walls — Gyrosphere Valley, T-Rex Kingdom, and the Mosasaurus Show.
Universal's first dual-sided locker system. Store your belongings on one side; retrieve them from the other after the ride. Free to use. All loose articles must be secured.
Security checkpoint ensures no loose items make it to the ride vehicle. Empty all pockets. Express Pass riders MERGE HERE.
Climb the stairs to the final briefing room. Chris Pratt (Owen Grady) warns this is a terrible idea. Bryce Dallas Howard (Claire Dearing) insists it's perfectly safe. Props include zappers, net guns, and a dino tracker.
The final stretch. Lap bars only — no over-the-shoulder restraints. 4 inversions at 70 mph. Good luck.

Try the App — FreeManufactured by Intamin and opened June 10, 2021, VelociCoaster is a steel launched coaster with two launches (0-50 mph in 2 seconds, then 40-70 mph in 2.4 seconds), 4 inversions including a 100-foot zero-gravity stall, a 155-foot top hat, a 140-foot 80-degree drop, and 4,700 feet of track. Universal promises 12 seconds of airtime.
Universal designed VelociCoaster's queue as a narrative experience rather than a holding pen. You progress from the paddock exterior through the research facility to a face-to-face raptor encounter before getting a "safety briefing" from two movie stars. The scent emitters, animatronic raptors, and augmented-reality windows make it one of the best queues in Orlando — even when the wait is long.
Islands of Adventure is live in Ride Ready. Set a drop alert so you only join the line when the wait is actually worth it. Real-time wait times and forecasts are available free.
