Magic Kingdom, rope drop to close.

Walt Disney World is coming to the Ride Ready app. Today the app covers Universal Orlando, SeaWorld Orlando and 12 more parks. These pages run on the same wait data, refreshed nightly. Ride Ready is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by The Walt Disney Company.

TRON Lightcycle / Run is Magic Kingdom's single biggest time cost, holding around 50 minutes in the first hour and climbing to a median of 80 by 10pm, so how early you take it decides the rest of your day. It isn't on Disney's Early Entry list for Magic Kingdom, so it opens to everyone at once at the official start, along with Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Big Thunder is the ride nobody warns you about: it has no real dip during the day, holding in the mid 30s to 40 from midmorning into the evening, though it does ease off in the final two hours before close. Tiana's Bayou Adventure opens near its lowest wait of the day and climbs to a 45-minute peak by early afternoon. Pirates of the Caribbean is the payoff for patience: it holds in the teens and 20s most of the day, then falls all the way to 5 minutes once evening sets in, one of the most reliable dips in the park.

Early Entry doesn't cover TRON, Big Thunder or Tiana's.

Disney's Early Entry list for Magic Kingdom is built around family and Fantasyland attractions, not the park's biggest thrill rides. TRON Lightcycle / Run, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Tiana's Bayou Adventure open to everyone at once at the official 9am start, so Early Entry's real edge is Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan's Flight before the rest of the park arrives. Disney's Early Entry page lists which rides run in the early window, and it changes, so check it the week you go.

  1. T-30m

    Early Entry opens the gate

Only a set list of attractions runs in this window, built around family and Fantasyland rides rather than the headliners. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the priority.

  2. 1:00

Work through Fantasyland's other Early Entry ride

Peter Pan's Flight is also on the list and holds in the high 30s to 40 with no real midday break, so take it in the same early sweep.

  3. 1:50

    TRON Lightcycle / Run

TRON, Big Thunder and Tiana's aren't in the Early Entry lineup; they opened to everyone at 9am, half an hour into your morning. With Fantasyland done, TRON is around 50 to 55 minutes and it never gets cheaper than that until the final hour before close.

  4. 2:55

    Bank Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

It has no real dip during the day, though it does ease off in the final two hours, so grab it once you're through the Early Entry rides instead of waiting.

The order that beats Frontierland's wall before it locks in

  1. 8:30a

    Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Seven Dwarfs is on Disney's Early Entry list for Magic Kingdom, so it's the priority the moment the gate opens. It already posts around 45 minutes by 8am on weekends and holds near a 50-minute plateau for most of the day, easing only in the final two hours, so this is close to the cheapest it gets without waiting until night.

  2. 9:30a

    Peter Pan's Flight

Also on the Early Entry list and right next door in Fantasyland. It's running around 35 minutes here with no real midday break ahead, building to a 45-minute peak by early afternoon, so take it now rather than come back for it.

  3. 10:20a

    TRON Lightcycle / Run

TRON isn't part of Early Entry, so it opened to everyone at the 9am official start. By the time Fantasyland is done it's around 50 to 55 minutes, and it only climbs from here, to a median of 80 by 10pm, so there's no version of the day where it gets much cheaper than right now. Lightning Lane Single Pass is the paid way around this line if you'd rather buy back the time.

  4. 11:25a

    Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Also outside the Early Entry lineup, so it has been open to everyone since 9am. It's around 35 minutes here with no real dip during the day, though it does ease back in the final two hours before close if you'd rather wait for night instead.

  5. 12:15p

    Space Mountain

Space Mountain is on the Early Entry list, but the walk back to Tomorrowland puts you here closer to its 40-minute midday peak, which is also what it holds most of the afternoon until the final hour, so there's nothing to gain by putting it off further.

  6. 1:10p

    Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin

Also on the Early Entry list, same land, last stop of the sweep. It's building toward a 42-minute evening peak, and by now it's already in the mid-30s, so the real discount was earlier in the morning, but it's still under where it tops out tonight.

This plan will break. That's the point. Between July 27 and August 25, 2026, at least one of Magic Kingdom's six tracked headliners was down or closed for 30 minutes or more in the middle of the day on 23 of 30 operating days, about three days in four. When it happens, check the My Disney Experience app for the current status before you commit to a line, and have a backup ride from this list ready to swap in. Get Skip free →

Two different mornings. Disney's Early Entry list for Magic Kingdom covers family and Fantasyland attractions, not TRON Lightcycle / Run, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad or Tiana's Bayou Adventure, so those three open to everyone at once at the official 9am start. Early Entry guests start the 30-minute window on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, stay in Fantasyland for Peter Pan's Flight, then fold in TRON and the rest once the whole park is open. Rope-drop guests without Early Entry go straight for TRON, since it's the single biggest time cost in the park and only gets more expensive from there. Times below assume a 9am open, the most common start over the next 60 days, and each step allows for that ride's queue plus about 15 minutes for the ride and the walk to the next one. Check the day's posted hours before you plan the finish: some nights run later for evening events, and on Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party dates the park closes to day guests at 6pm, so the Pirates finish moves to the late afternoon and Space Mountain becomes the last ride.

Three windows, three jobs

Morning Open – 12p

Bank the Early Entry rides, then TRON before it costs you more

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Peter Pan's Flight are both on Disney's Early Entry list for Magic Kingdom, so Early Entry guests start there while everyone else waits for the 9am open. TRON Lightcycle / Run, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and Tiana's Bayou Adventure aren't in the Early Entry lineup, so they open to everyone at once at the official start. TRON is the single biggest time cost in the park, so it comes first for rope-drop guests and right after Fantasyland for Early Entry guests.

Midday 12p – 5p

Let the low-key rides carry you

It's a small world holds under 20 minutes most of the day and the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover barely tops 15, so they're the easy pickups while the headliners sit near their peak. Jungle Cruise peaks in the late morning and holds near that peak until the final two hours, and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin is still building toward its own evening high, so save both for late instead of forcing them into this window.

Evening 5p – close

Chase the real dips after dark

Pirates of the Caribbean falls all the way to 5 minutes once evening sets in, and Jungle Cruise isn't far behind at around 10. TRON Lightcycle / Run also eases back to a median of 55 in the final hour before close, its second-cheapest window of the day after the morning. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Space Mountain all ease off their afternoon plateau in the final two hours before close. Check the My Disney Experience app before you commit to any of them, since a headliner going down mid-day can push extra riders into these lines later than usual. On party nights, when the park closes to day guests at 6pm, that evening window doesn't exist for regular tickets: take Pirates in the late afternoon instead.

Outsmart the wait, not just the crowd.

When Disney World lands in the Ride Ready app, it'll catch the moment Pirates of the Caribbean turns into a walk-on or a headliner's line finally eases, so you're pivoting while everyone else is stuck in the wrong queue. And you won't just be reading the data, you'll be part of it: time your wait in the app and the next rider gets a truer picture than the posted number. Think Waze, for theme park lines.
